Remembering Terry Murphy a cherished member of our school community

4th Aug 2025

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Terry Murphy, a former member of our Board of Governors and a much-loved friend within our school community. Terry served our school with unwavering dedication, wisdom, and kindness. Throughout his time on the Board, he played a vital role in shaping the direction of our school, always putting the needs of our pupils, staff, and families first. His thoughtful contributions and genuine care left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Terry was a familiar and friendly face at school, always ready with a warm smile, humour and encouraging words. He always took time for our school and for people, touching so many of our lives with his kindness and generosity. His compassion, integrity, friendship and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of working with him — values that continue to inspire us all.

On behalf of our governors, staff, pupils and whole school community at St Joseph's, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Terry’s family, his wife Geraldine, his children Declan, Colm, Oonagh and Grainne, his grandchildren and extended family circle. He will be deeply missed, by our school community, but his memory will remain a treasured part of our school’s story.

May Terry rest in peace.
