P5 Miss Colhoun

Welcome to Primary 5 and 6

A little bit about our lovely class:

There are 7 children in Primary 5 (3 girls and 4 boys) and 22 children in Primary 6 (15 girls and 7 boys).

Our teacher is Miss Colhoun and our fantastic classroom assistants are Mrs Small and Mrs Di Brita.

This year we will be continuing to concentrate on our independent learning skills, trying to regain our academic confidence after our prolonged periods of home learning over the past 2 academic years.

We really do work very hard in primary 5 and 6 as we delve into the KS2 curriculum, but we also know it is important to have fun along the way!

There will be a whole school focus on Health and Wellbeing going forward and we will be studying topics such as resilience, mindfulness, friendship, managing our feelings and kindness.

Below are some key days to remember when packing your school bag and getting prepared for school:

Monday: Return Friday test book (2 dojo points if it's signed by a parent / guardian)

Tuesday: Transfer club for Primary 6 transfer group (Chocolate Tuesday)

Thursday : P.E gear (Crispy Thursday)

Friday : Spelling test, number check up and mixed mental maths quiz (make sure you've done lots of practising through the week)

In terms two and three we will be reducing our PE timetable to one session per week. On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday children should wear FULL school uniform. This includes yellow polo shirt, blue jumper with school crest, black shoes and grey smart trousers, skirt or pinafore. Jogging bottoms are not permitted on these days.

On Thursdays children may wear PLAIN black or grey leggings or jogging bottoms. No detailing should be visible. Patterned leggings are NOT appropriate school uniform.

Homework for the following week will be sent home on a Friday. It can be completed ahead of time but the relevant homework must be completed by the following Friday.

Monday - Friday : You need a Healthy snack each day (Bread based snack, fruit, veg or a yoghurt) and hot dinners must be booked before midnight the previous day using the school money system.

Don’t forget you water bottle. Water only during class time and fruit juice (not fizzy) can be brought with you for lunch time.

We adhere to a healthy schools policy in Saint Joseph's. Please be mindful of this when packing lunch boxes.
