P5 had an amazing trip to Castlewellan Forest Park this week, as part of our shared education with Glasswater.
P5 did all sorts of fantastic outdoor learning - catching and identifying insects 🦋 spotting and listening out for different bird species 🐦 making bug hotels from twigs and moss 🪲 creating leaf trains and ordering them from smallest to biggest 🌿
The Education and Biodiversity Officer at Castlewellan Forest Park, Ben Ryan - also introduced us to a very special type of fungus called Lichen 🍄🟫 which grows on barks of trees and actually absorbs pollutants in the air. Super fact for our new 'Climate Change' topic 🌎🌡️
