Primary 5 Become Ancient Egyptian Mummifiers! πΊπ§ͺ
Primary 5 had an exciting week exploring their Ancient Egypt topic and discovering exactly how the process of mummification worked.πΊπ§ͺ
We carried out a fun science experiment where we mummified apples using a mixture of salt and baking soda to create our own natron. After leaving the apples for a week, pupils were amazed to find that the mixture had absorbed all the moisture, truing them into mummified apples! π Meanwhile, Miss Hanna’s uncovered apple began to rot showing exactly why the Egyptians used natron during the mummification process.
To round off the lesson, Primary 5 transformed themselves into mummies, wrapping each other in toilet roll and filling the classroom with laughter! 𧻠When they finally finished, they all agreed… “That’s a wrap!”
A brilliant combination of history, science, and fun for our enthusiastic Primary 5 learners! π
