Catholic Schools Week
23rd Jan 2026
As Catholic Schools Week draws to a close, we have taken time to reflect on this year’s theme, “Normal lives, called to holiness.” Throughout the week, pupils across the school explored what holiness truly means — not being perfect or doing extraordinary things, but choosing love, kindness and care in the ordinary moments of everyday life.
Inspired by St Thérèse of Lisieux and her message of “The Little Way”, children learned that small actions, when done with great love, matter deeply. This message was further strengthened through our learning about Carlo Acutis, a young person who lived a very normal, modern life but chose to put God at the centre through kindness, service to others and using his talents for good.
To bring this learning to life, our school created a special rose display, where pupils reflected on how they had lived holiness in their normal day. Each rose, petal or leaf added to the display represents a small act of love e.g a kind word, a helping hand, an effort to forgive, a moment of patience or a positive choice made with care.

Together, the display grew into a powerful visual reminder that holiness is lived out quietly and consistently, through everyday actions.
