🌙✨ Exploring Space with P5 🌟🪐

12th May 2026

P5 have been busy learning all about space 🌌, and they had a fantastic hands-on lesson exploring the night sky!

To understand the different phases of the moon 🌙, the children used Oreos to represent each stage. By carefully separating and shaping the cream filling, they were able to create and identify phases such as the new moon, crescent, half moon, and full moon. It was a fun (and very tasty!) way to bring science to life. 😋

The class also explored how craters are formed on the moon’s surface. 🌑 Using flour and a bouncy ball, they recreated the effect of meteor impacts, watching how the “surface” changed with each drop. This helped them understand how the moon got its cratered appearance.

The class also got creative using marshmallows to build their own star constellations. ✨ They worked together to arrange the marshmallows into different patterns, just like the constellations we can see in the sky.

Well done P5, for your enthusiasm and creativity! What a brilliant way to explore space! 🚀
