Christmas in St Joseph's

There was lots going on in St Joseph's PS over the Christmas period, the festive spirit was strong throughout the school (especially after the Christmas Show!)  The children began preparing for Christmas at the end of November with auditons for the show taking place.  Christmas then arrived in full force on the 8th December as children celebrated The Feast of The Immaculate Conception by attending mass and then had their Christmas dinner in the school hall.  Everyone donned their hats or antlers and sang some carols after they had finished.  It was a lovely atmosphere and thoroughly enjoyable for everyone.

The following week the hard work by all staff and children paid off when the Christmas Shows were a huge success.  The parental support was fantastic as almost 300 people attended St Colmcilles.  On the night the children overcame any nerves to put on two wonderful performances.  The talent of the children in the school was there for everyone to see as the children sang, danced and performed their lines to a professional standard.

During the last few days before the Chistmas break children enjoyed a trip to the Grand Opera House to watch the pantomime Jack In The Beanstalk.  The first term then ended with a beautiful carol serice in the school followed by the Christmas draw.  Children and parents left for Christmas with their winning prizes and good wishes from the staff for the festive period.

Christmas in St Joseph's is wonderful and the ethos of the school is particularly evident during this time.  Thank you to all the children, staff and parents for making this possible.  Happy New Year.
